PHOENIX

It was as birth pangs

like knife thrusts to the deepest chambers of my heart

like bullet wounds to my soul

then the fury of a thousand waves

and the raging og a hundred flames

crashed over me

in their anger

and then

in their peace

then silence

I rose from my ashes

and breathed the new air

HONOR

I've read somewhere...

"Honour is not given for one who has received,
but is rewarded for one who has given"

if the culmination of
all things offered
all things sacrificed
is honor.

then I bestow the honor to Him.

NEW SOUL

There is one new soul
who takes care of my own
and bears some of the weight
I carry

some thanks are
in order then
for the scars you bear with me
are many

RULES FOR MEN.

several rules for manly living...

1. Love your mom, kiss her, it is never baduy to kiss and hug your mother.
2. Read the Bible, there are tons of stories about great men there, learn their example.
3. Clean even a few of your own clothes, it is great practice.
4. Wash the dishes, contrary to public opinion, it is a man's job.
5.  If you like somebody, do it the right way. Real men go to the girl's house and talks to the folks, eats with the family and does everything formally. Only cowards do courtship through texting and hidden getaways. (ladies, watch out for men like that, if they're not willing to ante up and go to your house and meet your parents, they're probably not worth it.)
6. It's not a general rule to always have nice hair, but you should always smell good.
7. Poetry is never old, learn its beauty and utilize it for the right reasons.
8. Sing, dance, being a man is not all about being macho.
9. Good looks isn't all that, it helps to be smart about school too.
10. Love...the Lord your God, with all your heart, mind, soul and strength.

...cguro meron pang ibang rules, but, these are just some I just had to point out.
peace.

PASTORAL REMINDERS

this what I noticed as I drove home Thrusday night from UBS, a pastor student of mine rode with me and made me realize a few things...

1. About the youth, you can only do so much, but people are individual people with individual choices.

2. About the church, you can never hope to improve the system if you arent in it, if you dont attend meetings or events, you cant do anything...or, you can be apathetic.

3. About love, as with what Christ did, He can only offer it, bahala na ang tao tumanggap at magbalik or i reject.

a few reminders people...think about it at gaya ng sabi ni Ptr Gil, ang matamaan...ilag.

A RESPONSIBLE HEART

Love is severely misused nowadays

and it has been corrupted and destroyed

please, guard your heart...

our emotions are real but they are deceptive

and they could lead lives into ruin

please, guard your heart

everyone's nice

they could say the right words

they could even take care of you

but their motives are unclear until you find out too late

many seek for that immediate thrill

the flavour of a relationship unthought of

and unprepared for

please, guard your heart

if ever you are going to let someone in

let it be someone who believes in what you believe in

who loves your future more than a present feeling

who will be responsible for you
who will not use you

who will love you the way Jesus did

but most of all,

if you are going to let someone love you

let their love lead to the altar

and nowhere else

everyone can be a boyfriend or a girlfriend

but only the worthy ones

plan to be your husband or your wife

please, guard your heart

WHEN THINGS ARE DONE

to the one who has my heart: freedom
to the soul that cries: peace
to all who sees: faith
to the day after this one: hope
to the Lord of all: Love

NO ONE FIGHTS ANYMORE

a cousin of mine asked me, "why do these things? ba't ka nagpapakamartyr?"
I didn't know what to answer then, but tonight, siguro eto ang sagot ko...

"Because noone fights for love anymore."
everyone's so addicted to security, that romance is left at the sidelines
that everyone's so contented with what they can easily get
rather than what is really meant for them

noone sacrifices anymore...
to love without return
to give without receiving
to care without being taken care of
to hope without proof

maybe its just me, but noone really talks as they did about love before
How Jacob talked to Leah
How Romeo spoke to Juliet
How Jesus reached out to you

"Greater love has noone than this, to give one's life for a friend."
Jesus died without expecting you to believe in Him
the least I could do...
is to try to love as He did.

A MINUTE

Could you have taken a minute before you uttered your words?

I never said I was perfect

I hardly say that I'm alright

Can't you see that I try to do the best I can with what I have?

I labor on and expect no payment

I strive to serve and desire no reward

I mess up, more than a few times

a simple "good job" would have been enough

but you hardly see any goodness in me

WHAT THE CROSS IS

You know what the Cross is?

It is a corner, where most fear to turn

it is where you go to die to have life

where you get lost to be found

and where you give love to be loved

the Cross is not a nametag you wear

nor is it a chain around your neck

...adorned with mumblings of prayers

the Cross is an identity

the Cross is who you are

TODAY IS THE START OF THE REST OF MY LIFE

I have been on a journey for the past 5 or 6 months.

A journey to find myself
A journey to find my heart

This journey I took on willingly, not knowing the perils I would face or the things I would lose once
I stepped out into it. There was a job I left behind, a person I love that I hurt, and a ministry that I enveloped myself in for all the selfish reasons.

I could say I was looking for God.
But He found me first.

He took all the things that kept me comfortable and disrobed me of all the things that kept me secure. He took the things I was proud of, the people I was with and the activities I did to make myself secure, and most of all, He took away the person I loved.

He did this, so I could have Him back.

And only when I was naked and weeping in the darkest corners of the night did I need Him like I always should have needed Him.

Like air, like water and sunlight.

Now I am on my way back, clothed in grace and His righteousness.
My way back is also a journey, to take back the things I lost, and find them again, but this time,
with a right heart.
